The Nymphs

Writer: jamespederson5jamespederson5

Happy Earth Day, mythology fans!

To celebrate our Mother Earth and all that she has given us, I shall showcase my representation of the nymphs of Greek mythology.

Although these nature spirits are divine, they are not immortal like gods.

There are different kinds of nymphs, which I depict in different ways as follows:

Dryad (Wood Nymph)

To match her forest domain, I gave the dryad green hair and a leafy dress, and skin the color of tree bark.

Naiad (Water Nymph)

The naiad is blue all over to imitate her watery home.

She also wears a swimsuit-like garment.

Oread (Mountain Nymph)

The oread has grey skin and brown hair, which are colors of rocks and mountainsides.

She wears the pelt of a deer, an animal sometimes found in mountainous areas.

Her expression is meant to suggest a fearless mountain climber.

Nereid (Sea Nymph)

This nymph is essentially the mermaid of Greek mythology, so that's how I depicted the nereid.

Instead of a clamshell bra, she wears an Ancient Greek-style top.

In the spirit of Earth Day, we must protect our natural world so that the nymphs may continue to exist.

(if they actually did, anyway)
