FINLAND
The Nordic mythology that isn't Norse

Primary Source on Finnish mythology
The Kalevala, written in the 19th century by Elias Lonnrot as a collection of early Finnish tales written into an epic

Finland was a Swedish colony from the 1200s until 1809, when it was ceded to Russia.
Finland became an independent nation in 1917.

It is during the 19th-century age of Finnish nationalism and resistance to Russian rule that Elias Lonnrot enters the scene.

Every winter, the birds go to a paradise called Lintukoto, beyond the edges of the Earth.

The Pre-Christian Finns were Flat Earthers.
